  Dreading the memorial

  hey.

  does anyone else dread attending (in person or on zoom) the memorial months in advance?.

  literally as soon as new year hits, i feel sick and super anxious, and i've realised it's because of the memorial, which i only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz i left the jw sevel years ago..

  @HIDDLESWIFE is totally right about the anxiety from being judged and analyzed such as how many times you make a comment in the Watchtower.

  @LONGHAIRGIRL - I too felt more peace when I quit the JWs seven years ago.

  @BOOGERMAN - I did face years ago and the eldubs stopped contacting me about 4 years ago, but I still go to the memorial for family, which I know is stupid putting myself through Hell for this one night, but it really does have this trigger anxiety effect on me, and my going makes them keep hold of that glimmer of hope I'll one day return, I guess.

  I think my family pretty much know I'm not going to go back, even though I'm still officially baptized on paper.

  The reason it has this mental, emotional and physical effect on me is because, looking back, being raised a JW messed me up big style and being back at a Kingdom Hall is a big trigger.

  But I guess I do it because I can't live with the feelings my elderly parents' health has slid downhill because of me exiting the JWs.

  I have heard that too @Biahi - that eventually people in Paradise will lose their genders and genitals.

  Back to the subject of this thread though and I have heard it said by several knowledgeable elders that the Bethels and indeed Kingdom Halls are full of Brothers and Sisters who have the skills to do anything, from manufacturing mechanical and electrical products to upgrading water dams, forestry, you name it.

  Me, I'm fully POMO and very sceptical about this idea, though.

  it really hurt to hear brothers and sisters commenting about this at the meeting yesterday.. "as in solomon’s case, one of the greatest threats to spirituality is friendship with those who do not understand or respect jehovah’s standards.

  some may be associated with the congregation but may be spiritually weak.

  others could be relatives, neighbors, coworkers, or schoolmates who are not worshippers of jehovah.

  Does Disfellowshipping only prohibit spiritual contact with a DF family member or friend?

  all through my life, now in my 40's, i've seen df people get completely shunned by family and friends, but an ex elder showed me the stfog book that says it's just spiritual contact that stops.

  so what's the crack?

  i'm mega confused, as i want to go p.o.m.o or ideally da but don't want to loose family..

  hello, recently, i talked with the witness of the united states.

  "jehovah's witnesses" in the united nations.

  as far as i understand, the organization had to fully accept the un charter and cooperate with the un.the jehovah's witness replied to me that there is no contradiction in this.he said that witnesses are allowed to apply, for example, to courts or other organizations for help.when i told him that the organization is participating in the osce, he is said to be normal too.he said that they are not affected.

  just curious.. when you started to wake up to the truth about the truth, did the shock and the whole experience distract you from your usual activities such as performing at your place of work?.

  Definitely; I've not been able to concentrate on work or on much else for over a year now
